Fursure Pawsitively - Our Services
Offering with
Pleasure
We offer the following services at your home:
BATH & TIDY
A great option for longer-haired dogs in between larger grooming sessions, this groom provides everything a usual full groom does except cutting the hair on the body. Coming in for a bath & tidy will help take the pesky hair out of the eyes, and jump on those knots before they become matting. We encourage all longer-hair dogs to see us on a minimum of 4 weeks, alternating grooms between Bath & Tidy and full grooms.

BATH & DE-SHEDDING
A beautiful service tailored to those short-haired, high-shedding breeds. Our specialty de-shedding treatment combined with our de-shedding techniques will leave your pooch feeling loads lighter and less itchy. Importantly, we do not use yucky methods that will cut the hair - we can de-shed and maintain the integrity of the coat. Although we think dog hair is like love glitter, your house vacuum will be grateful for this groom!

FULL CLIP
Full Clips are grooms where the hair on the body and legs is all one blade length while the tail and head is still able to be styled to your desire (eg, "teddy bear", traditional to the breed, cut right back etc.) These grooms are by far the most popular groom for medium/longer haired dogs as they look really cute, are more economical, and don't require as much at home maintenance.

STYLE GROOM
Style Grooms are for people that want to keep their dog's coat in a fluffy, teddy bear, Asian Fusion or full coated appearance. Grooms where the hair is longer than 13mm in length are considered a Style Groom as they require more physical styling to achieve a balanced, beautiful look. Style Grooms are completed with a combination of extension combs, hand scissoring, and require a great amount of skill. This kind of groom is certainly the most gorgeous aesthetically, but does require more at home maintenance.

GROOM-OUT DE-SHED
A groom-out is the process of removing the undercoat from dogs with a double, combination, or heavy coat. Usually this undercoat is not effectively removed with simple brushing or combing, as these focus primarily on removing hair and debris from the top layer of fur. A groom-out of your dog helps facilitate the growth of healthy new hair, the regulation of body temperature, stops matting and discomfort, and helps reduce the amount of fur your pet sheds around your home. The process involves a de-shedding treatment and conditioning treatment, with specialty grooming techniques. The finish leaves the dog soft and fluffy, and the use of thinning scissors helps shape and refine the coat.

TRADITIONAL - BREED SPECIFIC
Traditional grooms are for people who really want their dog to be instantly recognisable as the breed they are. Every purebred dog traditionally has its own specialty trim, each with its own set of “rules” (although many of these grooms are modified for everyday pet owners.) For bearded terriers it may mean a long beard and eyebrows. For spaniels it might be a long skirt and bell shaped ears. For poodles it may mean rosette (pom-pom) cuffs and a top knot. If you aren't sure what the breed standard looks like on your dog, type your dog's breed and "show dog" into google.

HAND STRIPPING
Hand-Stripping is a grooming method that removes excess hair from a dog’s coat. Most standard grooms are done by clippers or scissors and only cut off the top layer of hair on a dog’s coat, whereas hand stripping is done by hand; using a painless "pulling" technique, allowing a new coat to grow in (by just clipping a coat, you’re only taking off the top layer of dead fur, so the dog’s coat can look duller in texture and colour.) Although not all dog coat types can use this method, it is the healthiest method for the coat on those dogs who can use it. It also lasts a lot longer than a typical shave down groom. Please note however, some dogs will not tolerate the process so we do have to see how your dog goes.

PUPPIES & KITTEN PROGRAM
Puppies & kittens get pretty dirty! Whether they are learning to navigate the world, toilet training, or got a little crusty post-surgery - they can definitely use a groom too! It is also very useful to get them used to the process young so it is less stressful when they are older.
Their first appointment We recommend that all kittens & puppies wait until they have completed all their immunisations before having their first groom. When your vet says your baby is ready to go out and navigate the world, we are ready to groom them with open arms!
What's involved? For the lil bubs we do a wash with gentle puppy or kitten double shampoo and conditioner, a dry (with a lower set dryer than normal), a soft brush out and make them smell like a baby - yummy! 😆 If required, we do a little scissoring to make sure the hair is out of their eyes and they are feeling nice and comfortable. They also have their nails clipped & paw pads shaved.

BEHAVIOUR GROOM PROGRAM
Grooming is an essential part of maintaining a pet's good health, and when issues arise that make this process hard, it can be very distressing.
Behavioural Grooming is specialised grooming that takes into account the difficulties the animal and the groomer may face, while trying help the animal overcome these fears, physical abilities and hurdles.
Although it is understandable that groomers turn away clients for their safety and that of the animal,
We commit to take on an portion of animals needing specialist Behavioural Grooming care.

MATTING REMOVAL
*Suitable for dogs, cats and bunnies
“Matting” refers to densely tangled clumps of fur in a pet’s coat. If a coat is not properly and/or frequently brushed, hair becomes embedded in large masses. Sometimes mats can be combed out, but if left too long, they can cause serious harm to the animal. Mats can form in both the outer coat and the deeper undercoat. Sometimes severe mats form in the undercoat and go unnoticed because of a heavy outer coat. If left completely unattended, a pet’s fur can become entirely matted. This is known as “pelting”. When the coat becomes pelted, the only recourse is to shave the entire coat.
This is an add-on service to the groom!

NAILS & PAWS
*Suitable for dogs
When it comes to the comfort and health of our pets, nails and paws are often overlooked.
This is why all our grooms include a nail clipping and paw trimming.
But we also offer extra nail and paw solutions and even fancy fashionable options so that nails and paws are never overlooked again!
This is an add-on service to the groom!

Cat Grooming
No Anaesthetic, No Sedation.
Many people have to rely on their vet to groom their cat, but unfortunately this almost always requires anaesthetic or sedation (which of course comes with risks.) At our spa, we do not sedate. We use fear-free handling and provide a specially designed cat calming space. It is rare that we will encounter a cat that is distressed by the grooming process, but in these instances we offer a full refund and will advise you on best practice going forward.
No Dogs. Private Space. At your Home.

Rabbit Grooming
Even though rabbits do a little personal grooming, grooming done by humans is absolutely essential to the health of pet rabbits. When rabbits groom themselves they can ingest a lot of hair which can accumulate in the stomach, but unlike cats, rabbits cannot vomit or cough up hairballs. That means, if the hair doesn't safely move through the stomach and intestines, it will cause a potentially serious issue such as trichobezoar (matted hair in the stomach) or GI stasis (intestinal blockage.) Unfortunately, these can also be fatal. Leaving your rabbit to deal with their shedding hair is not safe and all pet rabbits need assistance de-shedding. Rabbits also can’t brush through their hair and if not attended to, the hair will become matted. Matted animals will be restricted from full movement and experience pain. Matting also poses more serious risks like blood restriction to the extremities, hematomas and infections. This all sounds a little scary- right? Well don’t be scared, we are here to help you and your bunny! Please note we do not bathe bunnies as it causes too much stress on them and is rarely needed. If there is an extreme scenario in which bathing a rabbit is the best option, we will discuss a plan going forward.

Guinea Pig Grooming
Despite their piggy name, guinea pigs are quite clean animals. Nevertheless, it’s important for their human carers to assist with grooming to maintain their optimal health and hygiene. Some guinea pigs will lick and preen themselves, but like cats and rabbits, whatever is on their coat will be ingested which poses issues to their health. Grooming also helps maintain body temperature, prevents walking problems from nail over-growth, helps avoid consequences from matting (like overheating, hotspots and body restriction) while also providing general comfort.
